My first experience with my dummy man.

He was tanned with rugged hair cascading just to where his shoulders would have been-if he had any. And such soft flowing facial hair which, I didn't know at the time, would later be even softer.
I had now started my journey to become a barber! My day started at the front door of the Mike Taylor Education Barber College, meeting the founder Mike Taylor's wife and team. I was so excited to be there, knowing it was such a recognized organization and well known in the barbering industry. Although being a qualified hairdresser already, I was still nervous of what my first day would hold. However after entering the shop and being greeted with smiling faces I knew it was going to be great.
After being introduced to the team and others training, I started on my dummy man and named him Pedro. We started at the basics, just giving his rugged hair a trim and practicing a few layers. It was great to get to know everyone in this foreign land kin my current career and know that we all have the same ambition.
4 hours in and they handed me a razor...discovering new techniques with different tools. Slowly my dummy mans hair was getting shorter and shorter! Next came the thing I had NEVER done before-softening his facial hair! I was taught how to do a soft layer through his beard and mustache and although his was a lot different to a real persons, it did help me get to see what trimming hair on the face was like-very different! Not long after this an my day was over.
I am looking forward to seeing what my next day back will hold and what's next in store for my dummy man!
